China Turns Focus Outward – standing together with the World

Apr 2, 2020

As countries struggle to respond to the pandemic, China is now sending a message that they have overcome the crisis at home and is ready to help others.

The Virus Respects No Borders

As China defused its crisis, it became the World’s turn to suffer. Globally, infections are nearing half a million worldwide. Life has ground to a standstill with some three billion people confined to their homes as governments scramble to halt the disease's deadly march across the world. As countries struggle to respond to the pandemic, China is now sending a message that they have overcome the crisis at home and is ready to help others.

Not Alone

In the last few weeks, China has
donated coronavirus testing kits to Cambodia, sent planeloads of ventilators,
masks and medical professionals to Italy and France, pledged to help the
Philippines, Spain and other countries, and deployed medics to Iran and Iraq,
even offering medical help to the United States as their infected numbers
continue to skyrocket. Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio aired a live
Facebook video last week to show the arrival of medical equipment and a team of
Chinese doctors. “We are not alone, there are people in the world who want to
help Italy,” he said.

For China, helping Italy and other countries in these difficult times is the right thing to do. China’s aid for Europe is a matter of vital international cooperation, and as expressed by Gao Zhikai, a former Chinese diplomat and translator to late paramount leader Deng Xiaoping, “In the fight against COVID-19, mankind is in the same boat.” China is willing to respond to the urgent needs of the World and spare no effort to provide support and help, and share experience in prevention, control, and treatment.

China Standing with the World

In the face of the epidemic, human beings share the same destiny, and only unity and collaboration can generate the power to safeguard lives. China’s practices have been highly recognized and hailed by the world. The country is demonstrating strong unity, connected movements, and joint efforts to prevent and control the epidemic. It is timely releasing relevant information both domestically and internationally, actively responding to concerns of each party, and enhancing international cooperation. The world is globalized, so there is no member of the international society that is free from global public health incidents. Viruses are a public enemy of human beings, and to take a win in the battle against the novel coronavirus as early as possible is a goal shared by the world. At a time when the world needs to jointly face difficulties, people across the globe are standing firm with China
